South Korea breaks daily coronavirus case record

South Korea broke single-day record for new coronavirus cases on Thursday, reporting 22,907 new infections. It is the second day in South Korea and it has reported over 20,000 cases within the space of 24 hours. Despite the steep increase in the number of cases, the South Korean government said the number of critical cases and deaths has remained low compared to the delta variant wave. The government has warned the number may keep rising due to the five-day lunar new year holiday.
