People shop at Hanoi market ahead of Lunar New Year

Vietnam capital Hanoi prepared for Lunar New Year celebrations on Sunday as vendors set out their bright red wares.

Taking place on February 1, the same as Chinese New Year, it is an important festival for Vietnamese people. Hanoi, a city of 8 million, had its COVID-19 restrictions eased in October when infection rates dropped and more people were vaccinated.
