Yeywa Hydropower Project: Senior General Stresses Advantages of Hydropower

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on Monday inspected Yeywa Hydropower Project in Kyaukse District of Mandalay Region.

During the inspection, the Senior General heard reports on matters including the Yeywa Hydropower project, water storage capacity, electricity generation, numbers of officials and staff, upgrade work in the fiscal year of 2019-2020, electricity generation projects on Myitnge River, upper Yeywa hydropower project and middle Yeywa hydropower project.

In his response, the Senior General stressed that hydropower power projects are long-term projects and urged the concerned officials to continuously implement upper Yeywa and middle Yeywa hydropower projects as well as Deedoke hydropower project.

Electricity generation with the use of gas is expensive, and hydropower and solar power generation should be prioritized, he added. Stressing the advantages of hydropower projects, the Senior General said that electricity is essential for the country’s development.

The Senior General also signed in the guests’ book, electricity generation process and provided cash assistance for the staff. Also, he visited Yeywa Dam to make inspections.
