Efforts For Smooth Transportation: Gyaing (Kawkareik) Bridge Construction 70 Percent Completed

Kayin State Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo inspected construction of Gyaing (Kawkareik) Bridge in Kayin State. Construction of this new Bridge next to the existing Bridge on the Hpa-An-Kawkareik-Myawaddy Asia Highway on East-West Economic Corridor is now 70 percent completed.

The new 4-lane Gyaing (Kawkareik) Bridge is designed to be 1,903 feet long and 74 feet wide. This Bridge project is set to be complete in 2023 March. The bridge is a part of series of the construction of East-West Economic Corridor which is one of the strategic corridors since 35% of GDP comes from this corridor and around 28% of population are living there.

It also contributes to the smooth border trade with Thailand, which is the second largest export and third largest import country for Myanmar in 2018.
