







The government is making efforts to reduce the development gap between urban and rural areas by laying down the policies, providing technologies and assistance.
On January 22nd, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo visited the villages in Thandwe of Rakhine State where the development works are carrying out under the Emerald Green Project and Saemaul Undong (SMU) Project.
The Union Minister urged the villagers to share the experience of success in socio-economic development to other villages. The Union Minister and party later inspected the construction of YaySin Dam near YaySin Village, and gave instructions on engaging livestock breeding and farming works as the project could benefit for water supply for drinking purpose and other purposes to some extent.
It is learnt that the village suffered scarcity of fresh water during every summer, and once the dam construction was completed, it can store 48 million gallons of water at full brim, and could provide drinking water supply for some 8,000 residents the whole year round.
The Union Minister and party later proceeded to KayanMaw Village and inspected the breeding and farming works. They later went to the Cold Storage Factory in Dwarawady Myothit and inspected the packaging process of marine products. The factory provides over 800 job opportunities for the locals and exported the value-added marine products to the local and international markets.
Later in the day, the Union Minister met with the entrepreneurs from rubber farms, fisheries and breeding industries, and called for harmonious cooperation of the government and private sectors for food sufficiency and boosting exports.
