Attacks in Kayah State: Terrorists Violate Geneva Convention

The Security Forces are continuing the efforts for stability of region and protecting the life and properties of people. On January 22nd, the security forces conducted operation at Gorrakha Village in Kayah State, where the KNPP and PDF terrorists are hiding.

The operation was conducted by avoiding the residential buildings and government buildings as much as possible. The terrorists group fled away to HoPheik Village in the afternoon, and the security forces followed them, and the village is now under control.

One woman was died, and a man was seriously injured as they have been used as a human barrier by the terrorists during the attacks. The injured person was provided treatment and sent to the local battalion hospital. According to the investigation, the terrorists planned to attack Loikaw on the Kayah State which falls on January 15th, and they engaged in the fight with the security forces on the 17th at MineLone Ward.

During this incident, they arrested U SoeHtwe, being accused as the informer. It is learnt that there are 5 people, being arrested by the terrorists and three of them have been taken to another place on January 21st. The arms and ammunitions have been seized during the operation, along with the bodies of KNPP terrorists.

It was found out that the terrorists are continuing violating the Geneva Convention and committed war crime as they intentionally used the civilians as the human barrier instead of letting them to escape from the danger zone.
