


Fish breeding is jointly carried out with a floating cage system by the Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department and the Department of Fisheries at the Wakadoke dam, benefitting more than 30,000 acres of summer paddy fields in Waw and Thanatpin Townships, Bago region.
Technical assistance is being provided to locals and fish breeders enabling to operate their tasks on manageable scale. On 21st January, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin HtutOo and officials arrived at Wakadoke dam in Bago Region and looked into measures for protection in natural disaster and durability of the dam as well as breeding of fish with the floating cage system.
The Fishery Department is providing technical assistance and aids to small-scale breeders and large-scale commercial investors in fish breeding task with the floating cage system in the natural lakes and dams to create job opportunities and increase income for the locals and to increase fishery products.
By farming fish with the floating cage system, it will reduce the land demand to operate fishery task and the initial investment.
