Forest Conservation: Union Minister Held Meeting With Regional Government

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi met with the chairman and members of Ayeyawady Region Administration Council and departmental officials at the Ayeyawady Region Administration Council office in the morning on Sunday.

At the meeting, the arrangement of growing trees at the both sides of the road in 2021 rainy season in Ayeyawady Region, plan for establishement of village firewood plantation, protection of natural mangrove forest and plan for establishing mangrove plantation, plan for implementing national level waste disposal management and the collaborated implementation between the ministry and the Regional Administration Council were discussed.

The union minister added that the the status of falling the forest coverage in Ayeyawady Region, the consequences of forest depletion and pointed out that using firewood and charcoal from natural forest is one of the factors of the deforestation. Next, the chairman of Ayeyawady Regional Administration Council discussed on acquiring land for the establishment of village woods plantation for firewood, conservation of forest and environment, growing trees besides of the road.

Then, the responsible officials clarified the related matters and the union minister and chairman of regional administration council coordinated necessaries.  

Aftewards, the union minister inspected the Pyingadoe plantation in Thalutkhwer forest reserve and the preparations of Pyingadoe plantation to grow in 2021 rainy season.
