
A U.S. Air Force C-5 cargo aircraft left northern California on Wednesday/ carrying COVID-19 relief supplies for India.
Crews at Travis Air Force Base, about 54 miles northeast of San Francisco, prepared cargo pallets containing oxygen cylinders, medical masks and other supplies for the airlift operation supported by the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Agency for International Development, according to a U.S. Department of Defense statement.
The aircraft carried more than 400 oxygen cylinders and regulators, one million N-95 masks, and one million COVID-19 rapid diagnostic kits, according to the statement.
With over 379,000 new infections, now India has reported more than 18.3 million cases, second only to the United States.
