A major cyberattack has disrupted hundreds of supermarkets across France on Monday. Hackers remotely manipulated refrigeration systems, reportedly raising temperatures to as high as 50 degrees Celsius.

Between 150 and 200 Intermarché stores and nearly 100 Coopérative U outlets were affected, along with other retailers. Large quantities of fresh and frozen food had to be thrown away, leaving shelves empty. Some stores also reported fires. French authorities have launched an investigation into the unprecedented attack.
