UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, staff at Bedford Hospital and Paddington Station, and family members of Captain Sir Tom Moore gathered in locations across England on Wednesday to applaud the WWII veteran and NHS fundraiser following his death on Tuesday. Captain Sir Tom Moore shot to fame in the early days of the pandemic after raising money for the NHS by walking laps in his garden.

He had set a goal of 1360 dollar but eventually smashed the target, raising more than 34 million dollar for the health service. In recognition of his efforts he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in a ceremony last year. He died in Bedford Hospital on Tuesday after contracting coronavirus.
