Rare winter storm brings snow and hail to Southern California

A rare winter storm combination of snow, torrential rain, hail and biting cold creates risky driving conditions in Southern California. A winter storm warning is in effect for most of the mountain areas in Los Angeles, Ventura and San Bernardino Counties. The latest in a series of storms has left California mountains frosted in snow. The arrival of storms late last week mark a major change in what had been a dry pattern. Amid sunshine and clear skies between rain and snow showers, the state is blanketed in numerous types of storm warnings. Heavy snow was also falling in northern Arizona, with rain further south in the Phoenix area. Las Vegas was also expected to see rain and snow.
