House resumes election debate interrupted by mob

Wednesday morning's House Republican threaten in defense of President Donald Trump turned to a solemn debate when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reconvened the chamber to consider the objection to the Arizona results on Wednesday evening. The House reconvened hours after a violent mob loyal to President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol and forced lawmakers into hiding, in a stunning attempt to overturn America’s presidential election, undercut the nation’s democracy and keep Democrat Joe Biden from replacing Trump in the White House.

The rioters were egged on by Trump, who has spent weeks falsely attacking the integrity of the election  and had urged his supporters to descend on Washington to protest Congress’ formal approval of Biden’s victory.
