Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince on Thursday, demanding better security and an end to the violence which has taken grip of the city over the past year.

Many blame the government's lack of enforcement for their inability to take back control of the streets.

Port-au-Prince has become a violent, dangerous city where gangs wander the streets, controlling entire neighborhoods while also being the masterminds behind a streak of kidnappings for ransom.
