Rio de Janeiro's iconic Christ statue disinfected

Brazilian soldiers wearing hazmat suits disinfected Rio de Janeiro's iconic Christ the Redeemer statue on Thursday. Troops sprayed disinfectant on every possible surface area around the base of the statue in preparation for its reopening to the public on Saturday. The current number of COVID-related deaths in the state of Rio de Janeiro reached 14,295 with 185,610 people currently testing positive for the virus.
