Jordan's King says 'a lot of work to do' on Middle East de-escalation during Australia visit

King Abdullah II of Jordan received a ceremonial welcome and held talks with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during his visit to Australia. Both leaders express support for efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East. 

Anthony Albanese, Australian Prime Minister said  "We have consistently called for a de-escalation in the region. It's never been more important for countries to work together in the interests of international security. We're building on our defense and security cooperation as support for humanitarian efforts and the cooperation that we have on resources and energy." 

King Abdullah II added that trying to de-escalate the challenges in the region is not only the challenge of the future of the Palestinians, but also navigating the Strait of Hormuz.
