US COVID-19 cases top 2.34 million, deaths exceed 121,000

The number of COVID-19 deaths in the United States surpassed 121,000 on Tuesday with over 2.34 million infections, while new cases continue to increase across the country over three months into the pandemic, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University. New York State reported 31,232 deaths. Other states with over 5,000 COVID-19 deaths include New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and California, according to the data by Johns Hopkins University.
