Donation For The Blind: Braille Sheets Donated To School For The Blind In Kyitmyindine

The Braille sheets are needed for the students from School for the Blind in Kyitmyindine in Yangon because it faces difficulty in purchasing.

The staffs from Myanmar Embassy in Thailand and their families some entrepreneurs in Thailand donated 430 packets of Braille numbering 215,000 sheets worth over 322,000 Thai baht. The handing over ceremony was held at the School for the Blind in Kyitmyindine on Thursday.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the well-wishers, the Director-General of the Strategic Studies and Training Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed over the Braille packets to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.

About 120,000 Braille sheets are used annually to make text books for the children in the School for the Blind in Kyitmyindine. With request of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs helped to receive well-wishers and informed to Myanmar embassies in ASEAN region as well as Tokyo, Seoul and New Delhi for the assistance.
