Returnees From Thailand: 946 Myanmar Migrant Workers Return From Thailand

946 Myanmar migrant workers returned from Thailand through No.2 Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge in Myawady on Monday. Among them, 911 migrant workers from the respective districts in Thailand arrived back to home land with their own arrangement by taking the permission of Myanmar Embassy in Thailand.

Another 35 who have been released from penalty, were handed over by the Immigration Detention Center (IDC) in the southern part of Thailand at the Malaysia border. A total of 946 returnees including 579 males and 367 females returned from Thailand on the 8th June.

The State Hluttaw representative, the District Administrator, the district police force, health staffs and the concerned officials and volunteers welcomed them and arranged for conducting medical tests to them and food provided by WFP.

35 who were handed over by the Immigration Detention Center (IDC) have been repatriated to the officials at the Drug Rehabilitation Center in Hpa-An for quarantine.

Returnees from Kachin, Chin and Rakhine States, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area and Kayah State will be put temporarily at the quarantine center in Myawady to take swabs. The rests will be transported to the respective regions and States.
