Covid-19 Surveillance: Four More Confirmed Cases Found On Monday, Total Cases Reach 14

The Ministry of Health and Sports issued a news release on COVID-19 surveillance at 7:30 pm Monday. It stated that according to the laboratory results of the National Health Laboratory (Yangon) on specimen from a total of 55 persons under investigation and quarantined persons at 5:15 pm 30th March 2020 has shown four positive cases of Covid-19 and the remaining 51 persons were tested negative.

According to the disease outbreak history of the COVID-19 confirmed patient (Case-8) tour guide, 4 French visitors who were contact with positive patient (Case-08) had been quarantined in a hotel in Yangon on 28th March and their specimens had been tested on 29th March.

Out of them, three persons; Case-11, Case-12 and Case-13 have been found with coronavirus disease. Those three confirmed persons would be transferred to Wai Bargi Specialist hospital and currently, there are any symptoms in them.

The positive patient (Case-14) is the 24-year old man of Myanmar citizen living in Kyaukme, Shan State (North) and he returned to Tachileik, Myanmar from Bangkok, Thailand on 25th March and he stayed in Tachileik 2 nights.

On 27th March, He arrived in Mandalay via Tachileik by air on 27th March. In the evening of that day, he went to Kyaukme via Mandalay by car. On the 28th March, he suffered vomiting a lot and coughing and in the evening, he was admitted to People’s Hospital in Kyaukme as a person under investigation. His specimens were sent to the laboratory test.

The health condition of this patient is in progress. As Myanmar has found Covid-19 positive cases, persons in close contacts with these patients are under investigations, and restrictions are being placed. People are advised to strictly follow the awareness of the Ministry of Health and Sports.
