French military moves coronavirus patients from hospitals under pressure

The French military shipped several patients from eastern France to Bordeaux on Friday in an effort to alleviate hospitals of the climbing influx of coronavirus patients. Prime Minister said on Friday that the virus has overwhelmed the East and is now arriving in the Greater Paris region and the northeast regions.

France will extend a national lockdown until April 15 after reporting its biggest daily death toll from coronavirus, its prime minister said on Friday, and officials warned that hospitals around Paris could be overwhelmed in 48 hours. The death toll nationwide so far stood at 1,696.
