Dutch government announces lockdown against coronavirus

During a news conference on Sunday, the Dutch Minister of Education, Arie Slob, announced the closure of schools as many teachers were already sick at home and because of safety risks. The Minister of Public Health, Bruno Bruins, said these wouldn't be the last measures and also said the situation keeps developing very rapidly and they will keep deciding on further measures based on the knowledge of experts. The government ordered all restaurants, cafes and schools shut down until April 6.

The measure included the famous Dutch bars and strip clubs, Health Minister said. The Netherlands reported eight more deaths on Sunday due to the coronavirus, taking the total to 20. The Dutch National Institute for Public Health (RIVM) said the number of infections had risen by 176 to 1,135.
