Request To The People: Public Are Advised Not To Believe The Rumours

The Office of the President of the Union of Myanmar issued an announcement on Friday. It stated that the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the Coronavirs Disease 2019 (COVID-19) as a Pandemic at 11:13 Myanmar Standard Time on 11th March.

Thus, the Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) was extended as a National Level Central Committee on 13th March. Since the COVID-19 can be spread quickly in a crowded places, the public are urged to avoid the mass gathering ceremonies and events including the pandals for Thingyan Water Festival.

The instruction has been made to the concerned authorities to halt the mass gather ceremonies and events starting 13th March till the 30th of April and it may be extended if necessary.

The Ministry of Health and Sports is issuing about the conditions of the patients under surveillance, suspected patients and the lab results of those patients in timely manner, and as of 10:00 pm on 12th March, there is no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Myanmar.

The public are advised not to believe the rumours that intended to be panic and to exactly follow the notifications issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports to prevent the COVID-19 disease. The public are also requested to inform about the suspected patients to the closest health departments through the district, township, ward and village-tract administrators.
