Tabaung Full Moon: Buddhist Devotees Flock To Pagodas For Meritorious Deeds

Pilgrims and Buddhist devotees performed meritorious deeds at the pagodas and religious edifices in Nay Pyi Taw on Full Moon Day of Tabaung, Sunday.

The lotus robes were donated to four Jade Buddha Images and Maha Sutaung Pyae Pagoda inside the Uppatasanti pagoda and a consecration ceremony was held in the morning of that day.

In the evening, Paritta, Dhammacackka and Pathana Pali verses were recited, together with donation of 9,000 oil lights at the pagoda.

Moreover, Buddhists came to other significant pagodas in Nay Pyi Taw for doing meditation and meritorious deeds on the remarkable occasion.

Likewise, a ceremony to mark 2608th anniversary Tabaung Festival of Shwedagon Pagoda took place in Yangon on the Full Moon Day of Tabaung where the influx of Buddhists performed meritorious-deeds from dawn till dusk. Members of Sangha led by senior monks of the board of trustees, recited Pali verses of consecration at the upper terrace of Shwedagon pagoda.

On the Full Moon Day of Tabaung, pilgrims flocked to the significant pagodas in Yangon for merit-makings.

Meanwhile, Buddhists did meritorious deeds at the pagodas and temples in Mandalay on the full moon day. Led by the presiding monk of Maha Muni Buddha Image’s board of trustees, the Buddhist people offered water and gold-foils to the Buddha image.

They also kept the Sabbath and donated offertories to the monks.
