The launching ceremony of Myanmar Entry into the ASEAN Single Window was held in Nay Pyi Taw, Friday.
Myanmar Customs Department in cooperation with Trade Department with the support of USAID, implemented National Single Window Routing Platform (NSW-RP) in 2018 to exchange ATIGA e-Form D electronically within ASEAN regions. Through this national platform, Myanmar officially joined the ASEAN Single Window System for electronic exchange of the intra-ASEAN certificate of origin, ATIGA e-Form D on 9th of December 2019.
Director, Myanmar Customs Department, Win Thant said “According to the ASEAN agreements, we might exchange electronically ATIGA Form D within the region. The main reason is to reduce paper works. Before we can’t fully implement National Single Window in our country, we made National Single Window Routing Platform with the support of USAID. Through this platform, we can now send Form Ds issuing from Trade Administrative Department to the ASEAN countries and we can use accepting the electronic Form Ds from ASEAN Countries.”
Myanmar exporters and importers will be able to access and complete Form D more easily, which will lead to reduced time and cost as well as dramatic improvement in the accuracy and speed in processing through the ASEAN Single Window and it will also help increase transparency and more efficiency.
Mission Director, USAID, Teresa McGhie said “We are actually support Single Window, which is a system that creates more efficiency and more transparency in exports and imports within the ASEAN region. We’ve supported that in many countries within the region. But in Myanmar, we are committed to see inclusive economic growth for the country that benefits all people of Myanmar. And we believe that Single Window is a great way to do that, because it will make trade in Myanmar, more transparent, easier for exporters and importers and more efficient.”
Myanmar Customs Department is also trying to implement exchanging ASEAN Customs Declaration Document (ACDD) and Electronic Sanitary and Phytosanitary (e-SPS).
