COVID-19 Updates: MoHs Issued COVID-19 Updates In Myanmar

The Ministry of Health and Sports issued the Surveillance and investigation of COVID-19 Updates at 8 pm, 5 March 2020.

The Ministry of Health and Sports is closely monitoring the outbreak of COVID-19 in China and other 77 global countries, with conducting surveillance at international gateways, at the public hospitals, community-based monitoring and private healthcare facilities.

In doing so, a 27-year-old woman, a native of Bhamo Township in Kachin State, was tested high fever at Muse border gate as she returned to home from Ruili city of China on 4 March. She said she began suffering fever and cough on 2 March. She was admitted to the Muse hospital and is being quarantined for medical treatments as a person under investigation. Her specimens will be taken to the National Health Laboratory in Yangon for laboratory tests. She is not found with symptoms of acute respiratory diseases.

Until 5 March afternoon, the results from NHL have shown that— (a) a 32-year-old women at Waibargi hospital (b) a 9-year-old boy at Muse hospital were tested negative for COVID-19.

Until 6 pm 5 March, a total of 3 patients are being given medical treatments at the respective hospitals.

A 26-year-old man at Kyaukpadaung People’s hospital under investigation is in good health.

Although there is no laboratory confirmed case of COVID-19 until 5 March, the ministry is conducting round-the clock surveillance in upward momentum. As the COVID-19 is spreading in 77 countries, people are suggested to strictly follow health awareness advice of the Ministry of Health and Sports on prevention of the disease.
