The pedestal throne of Mandalay Mahamuni Buddha Image will be renovated by the experts since there found some cracks on the throne.

The Pagoda Board of Trustees found the cracks in mid December last year. Relating this matter, the renovation procedures are going to conduct soon, after reporting to the Mandalay Region Chief Minister and concerned departments.

Chairman, Pagoda Board of Trustees, Soe Linn said “Mahamuni Buddha Image was conveyed from Rakhine State during the reign of  Bodaw Phaya in 1784 of KonBaung dynasty. It is now over 200 years of age. The cracks may be possibly caused by the weight of gold and long age of masonry. If it was due to upper weight, the renovation procedures will have to be carried out in details.”

The renovation procedures will be implemented according to the guidance of the senior monks, and it will be carried out by the cooperative efforts of concerned officials by forming a group.

Bronze Sculptor, U Sann said “The guidance from the senior monks was already accepted for renovation process. The group including Mandalay Region Government, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, Myanmar Engineering Societies, Department of Archaeology, National Museum and Library, Association of Myanmar Architect, Myanmar Society of Mechanical Engineers, Myanmar Traditional Artist Tampawadi U Win Maung and experts are going to carry out the renovation process. There will be live streaming for the public transparency when renovating is in progress.”

The renovation procedures will start after the meeting on 4th March and the procedures will be conducted between 4pm to 6pm in the evening.
