Public Awareness: Prevention And Response To COVID-19

The public awareness on prevention and response to Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) was conducted in Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region on Thursday.

Myingyin Township Public Health Department performed activities on distribution of educative pamphlets at the crowded places in cooperation with officials of the Township Administrative Department, the District/Township Women’s Affairs Committees and the District/Township Red Cross Societies.

They distributed educative pamphlets on preventive ways of COVID-19 issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports to the people and setting up vinyl posters.

Likewise, officials from the Township Administrative Department and medical officers and staffs raised awareness on preparedness and prevention of COVID-19 in Mone Koe, Muse District, Shan State (North) on Thursday morning.

They conducted distribution of masks and pamphlets to the public at Myanmar-Thailand border gate (Man Hai gate), Myoma market, other crowded places, screening the temperature and educative talks on prevention of the disease.

The Ministry of Health and Sports organizes the central level daily coordination meeting on preparedness for detection and response to Coronavirus Disease and the Ministry also suggests the people to follow its health awareness on prevention of the disease. According to the Ministry’s announcement, there is no laboratory confirmed case of COVID-19 in Myanmar until 26th February.

According to the situation report on Coronavirus disease 2019 of the World Health Organization (WHO) as of 25th February 2020, there are 81,109 confirmed cases globally and 78,191 confirmed and 2,718 deaths in China.

According to the WHO report, there are 2,918 confirmed cases in 37 countries and 44 deaths in outside of China.
