

The Embassy of Australia in Myanmar hosted the Australia National Event in Yangon on Thursday.
The Australian Ambassador to Myanmar gave the opening remarks saying that they also celebrate bilateral relationship between the two entities along with celebration of Australia Day in Myanmar.
Australia is committed to supporting the development of Myanmar’s democracy and to share their long experience of empowerment the rule of law and institutions, design to represent every individuals as well as the community as a whole. It also committed to cooperate and provide for development of Myanmar’s economy.
Ambassador, Australian Embassy (Yangon), H.E. Andrea Faulkner said “Australia highlights values that our development cooperation with Myanmar. We cooperate across many sectors. But I will highlight education where we working hard on developing basic education across the entire country and everybody knows about our scholarship programs which we are really pleased with. Further cooperation in democratic governance, in the governance of the economy and in peace and security. There's also cooperation in agriculture research, in poverty reduction and a whole range of other fields. It's something that Australia places high value on and we look forward to further cooperation in the years ahead.”
The relationship between Australia and Myanmar has a long history and that looks to the future prioritizing education and engages governments, institutions, businesses, civil societies and people between the two countries.
Counsellor, Australian Embassy (Yangon), Tim Vistarini said “Between Australia and Myanmar, help our countries, understand each other better and share the great experiences of origins, ideas of these two countries can bring. It’s a fantastic chance to talk about the things that matters to Myanmar and matters to Australia, things like trade, things like tourism, things like the relationships between all of us, both our countries. It's also great opportunity to share some of the things Australia can offer to Myanmar through our trade relationships.”
Program Manager (Education), Australian Embassy (Yangon), Thin Pyie Oo said “I brought master degree on public policy from Australia. When I came back, I’ve started work in education program of Australia Embassy here in Myanmar. Then, I want to participate in Myanmar’ education reforms deeply and now I’m also closely working with the Ministry of Education and using back my experiences from Australia.”
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein and wife, heads of diplomatic missions, high level officials from various sectors and representatives from international organizations and invited guests attended the auspicious celebratory event.
