WOSWRR – UNOCHA: WOSWRR UM received ASG/DERC of UNOCHA

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win received a delegation led by Acting Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator (ASG/DERC a.i.) of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) Mr. Indrika Ratwatte at the ministry on Monday afternoon.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on natural disaster management, cooperation with the ministry during the Mandalay earthquake response, humanitarian assistance, arrangements for the repatriation of displaced persons, and collaboration between the AHA Centre and the ministry.

They also discussed cooperation in mine awareness activities and the implementation of the Letter of Agreement (LoA) signed between the Department of Disaster Management and UNOCHA. The meeting was attended by directors-general, the deputy permanent secretary, relevant officials, United Nations Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator a.i. Ms. Gwyn Lewis, and representatives from UNOCHA.
