World Environment Day: Commemorative event held in Magway Region

Magway Region Government organized World Environment Day at the City Hall on Thursday. Chief Minister U Tint Lwin attended the event and made a speech, highlighting the implementation of awareness campaign for ending plastic in Magway Region, along with the distribution of recycle bags.

He called for participation of entrepreneurs, civil society organizations and people for successful implementation of the tasks. This was followed by screening of video clips on the messages sent by the UN Secretary General and the UNEP Executive Director as well as the commemorative video clip.

Honorary awards were also presented to the winners of Regional Level Clean and Green School, Smart Village Award and Essay Competition. Hlegyi Village Basic Education Primary School in Pwint Phyu Township of Minbu District has won the second prize for Clean and Green School Award at the Union Level. This year’s theme for the World Environment Day is “Ending Plastic Pollution Globally”.
