World Engineering Day: Educative Talk to Mark the International Day

To  mark the World Engineering Day which will fall on 4th March, an educative talk was held at the Ministry of Industry in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday. Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than said there are many issues to be implemented by the engineers, technicians and experts in order to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goal as well as climate change, environmental issue, density populations and challenges of technologies inlcuding the Artificial Intelligence.

He said despite the challenges ahead, the goal could be reached definitely with the strenuous efforts and innovations. He urged all to cooperate in creating the better future by promoting the industry sector while preserving the natural environment.

The World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development was proclaimed by UNESCO at its 40th General Conference in 2019. It is celebrated worldwide on 4th March of each year since 2020 as a UNESCO international day of celebration of engineers and engineering. 

The day offers an opportunity to highlight engineers and engineering’s achievements in modern world and improve public understanding of how engineering and technology are central to modern life and for sustainable development.

The theme of this year World Engineering Day is “Build Back Wiser: Engineering the Future,” which recognizes the important work that engineers need to do to ensure a better future.
