Work Coordination Meeting: Production of qualified iron and steel products

The Ministry of Industry held a work coordination meeting on production, importing and distribution of qualified iron and steel products at the meeting hall of the office No.30 in Nay Pyi Taw on April 30.

Union Minister Dr. Charlie Than said that the ministry is fulfilling the necessities of the construction material manufacturers to operate at full capacity in production process. Under the guidance of the head of state, the Union Minister stressed to reconstruct the basic infrastructure and buildings in quake affected areas, ensuring to withstand up to 8.0 Richter scales earthquake.

He also instructed to check the integrity of the old buildings and to supervise possible risks in construction of new buildings, bridges and roads. In addition, plans are underway to coordinate with the engineers, technological experts, organizations and manufacturers in supervising iron and steel products imported from abroad.

Manufacturers are urged to produce qualified products, prioritizing to secure property and safety of the public. After sector wise discussion by the attendees, the Union Minister gave closing remarks and the meeting was concluded.
