The first work coordination meeting for successfully organizing a ceremony for the destruction of seized narcotic drugs in conjunction with the 38th International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, was held at the Shan State Government Office meeting hall in Taunggyi on June 2nd.

At the coordination meeting, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung stated that new types of narcotic drugs are being invented and produced in line with the changing times. He noted that these drugs pose a great danger to young people and that new drugs, which are easy to produce, transport, sell, and use, and which yield large profits, have been seized in large quantities across various areas. He further observed that new drugs such as "Happy Water" and Ketamine are gaining popularity among youth and are being widely used by people of all genders and ages in KTVs, bars, and clubs.

Following this, Chairman of the Shan State Anti-Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Prevention and Control Committee and State Security and Border Affairs Minister Brigadier General Sein Win, presented a discussion. Chief of the Shan State Police Force and secretary of the Committee Police Brigadier General Kyaw Kyaw Han, then provided a briefing on the preparations for last year's drug destruction ceremony and the plans for this year's event.

Subsequently, various sub-committees presented their discussions, followed by a general discussion. The Shan State Chief Minister then delivered concluding remarks.
