







Union Minister for Women’s Affairs Dr. Thet Thet Zin met with women volunteers in Oatthakan Village Monastery in Heho Township on June 13.
The Union Minister discussed a rural women’s development program and stressed the need to improve women’s skills and living conditions in rural areas. She emphasized on keeping villages clean and healthy, preventing infectious diseases, improving health and nutrition awareness, ensuring all school-age children attend school at least up to Grade 9 (KG+9) and helping women start small home-based businesses.
She outlined the well-organized development plans at village and township levels, with the participation of trained volunteers, and regular monitoring for progress. The chairperson of the Myanmar Women’s Affairs Federation also supported the program and said it will be closely supervised.
The Shan State Social Affairs Minister added that education and welfare programs will be supported, and efforts will be made to ensure children who cannot attend school are identified and helped. The meeting ended with questions and answer session.
