






Union Minister for Women Affairs Dr. Thet Thet Zin presided over a meeting on Rural Women Development Project within Shan State on 12th June.
In her remarks, the Union Minister stated that the project has been drafted to accelerate rural women development measures in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay Region and Shan State, emphasizing on reading habit promotion, organizing rural libraries, full enrollment of all school age children and promotion of women involvement in business operation and job creations.
The Union Minister called for the active participation of the Shan State Government in necessary implementations in project areas to enhance the socio-economic status of rural women.
Chief Minister U Sai Htein Soe also highlighted necessities in respective areas and assured to support requiste assistance during project period.
Then, the attendees made sector-wise discussions. Subsequently, the Union Minister and party met with members of Myanmar National Committee on Women and made discussions on rural women development project implementation measures. They then, proceeded to Shan State Women Affairs office, met with displaced families and provided cash assistance and school supplies.
