Wildfire burns 1,100 hectares in France's Landes forest

A wildfire in France’s Landes forest has burned around 1,100 hectares since breaking out on Thursday. Cooler, more humid conditions overnight helped slow the blaze, which is being fought by around 500 firefighters. Some 50 gendarmes helped evacuate 525 people. Authorities remain concerned about further spot fires as temperatures are expected to reach 36°C.
