Wildfire breaks out near Biscarrosse, sparking mass evacuation

A fast-moving wildfire broke out near Biscarrosse in southwestern France on Friday, after a truck caught fire on the D652 road. The blaze has burned over 2,500 hectares, forcing the mass evacuation of over 23,000 residents. Besides, at least 105 homes and other local buildings completely destroyed.

Around 600 firefighters are deploying on the ground and supported by the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism for aerial assistance.
