Welcoming Students Back: Enrollment To Be Accepted Till November 19

Schools are now welcoming students back after closing temporarily for about four months due to the severity of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Government has announced to reopen schools on November 1stas the spread of the COVID-19 has declined with around 4%.

Those who have not been enrolled for various reasons will be accepted within three weeks till November 19th.

Township Education Officer, Yangon Region Education Office, Hnin Kyi said “Over 83,000 students are now attending on the first day, and over 130,000 on the second day at the respective schools. We wish all the students to come to schools for pursuing education. They can make enrollment till November 19th. In order to get effective learning, we have drafted new curriculum for each grade and distributed to the schools. The exams will be held during February and March.”

In order for the students to learn safely, teachers, township administration bodies, members of the Fire Brigade and the Myanmar Police Force are providing security in and out of the schools.

Teachers also make sure that students are wearing masks and face shields, in addition to taking temperature and monitoring the hand washing of the students before entering the school.

Township Education Officer, Yangon Region Education Office, Hnin Kyi said “COVID-19 vaccines are also administering to the students. Over 60,000 students have already received their first dose so far. The second batch of vaccination started on November 2nd. We target to vaccinated all the students on November 8th.”

Schools were opened on 1 June and closed on 9 July during the COVID-19 outbreak in Myanmar.
