Water Supply in Sittwe: SAC Chairman inspects water distribution system

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on Tuesday inspected water distribution system in Sittwe of Rakhine State.

At the site of water distribution source, the Senior General heard reports on average daily and annual water needs of people, rainwater storage and water supply by two sources, annual rainfall patterns and water storage capacity, need for water supply due to less rainfall since 2017 and increase in urban population and expansion of the sources.

In his response, the Senior General called on concerned officials to make efforts to meet the daily water demand, to convert the salt water in the region into fresh water in addition to the method of storing and distributing fresh water, to carry out and report the analysis and measurement of underground water extraction as soon as possible in the northern part of the township and to conserve the environment.
