In Vietnam, Philippines, pain is felt at the pump

Across Asia, drivers are rethinking their habits and personal finances amid skyrocketing prices for gasoline and diesel. Energy prices are a key driver of inflation that is rising worldwide and making the cost of living more expensive.

Many drivers have been halting their services. The World Bank, which predicts an inflation of 4% this year for Vietnam, has warned the government to interfere and stabilize the fuel price to avoid negative impacts to the economy.

In Manila, owners of diesel-powered vehicles who are used to paying for less than a dollar per liter are now paying almost 70% more, after the latest price hike.
