Venezuelans observed a minute of silence on Friday, marking one month since the catastrophic twin earthquakes struck the country on June 24. Families gathered at makeshift altars with toys and rosaries to pray for missing loved ones.
During the ceremony, interim president Delcy Rodriguez said the earthquakes made Venezuelans victims of nature, praising the efforts of the armed forces and international rescues teams who sacrificed for the people in the affected areas. The disaster resulted in over 5,400 deaths, thousands of injured citizens, and widespread destruction particularly in La Guaira and Caracas.
