Venezuela braces for long-term recovery two weeks after earthquakes

Following twin earthquakes that struck northern Venezuela, the nation is undertaking massive, long-term recovery. The disaster killed over 3,000 people, left thousands homeless, and severely impacted infrastructure, with recovery efforts complicated by frozen assets, public health concerns, and the fragile state of local healthcare. 

Launching a massive reconstruction plan dubbed "Great Mission Venezuela is Reborn". Interim President Delcy Rodríguez announced an initial $200 million international recovery fund. Besides, expert disaster-relief engineering groups are collaborating with local institutions to conduct rapid habitability and damage evaluations for existing housing and critical infrastructure.
