For the smooth flows of exports, vehicle monitoring system has been in use at 16-mile Kyauk Chaw checkpoint of Mandalay Region starting from 11th February.

In 18th February, Union Minister for the Ministry of Commerce U Aung Naing Oo, together with the responsible officials from the department of commerce inspected the transportation of goods using QR code system. In 16 – mile Kyauk Chaw checkpoint, VMS QR code system started testing as a trail period starting from 1st February and has been in use in 11th February.

Responsible official, Kyauk Chaw checkpoint (Department of Export), Myo Min Oo said "Before using QR code, we inspected the export conditions of goods with the licenses issued by the Department of Commerce. It saves much time and easy to check the licenses than before by using QR code system.  "

During the trial period, QR code system has been used for the exports of beans, maize, sesame and oil-products and in 6th February, the Department of Commerce issued an announcement to use QR code and register licenses for all export items. And then, QR code system has been in use for all export items, starting from 11th February.

Deputy Responsible official, Kyauk Chaw checkpoint (Department of Export), Zaw Maung said "It is needed to register the license first at the Department of Commerce with online system and drivers need to show the document with the QR code hardcopy issued by the department in the inspection gate. And then, Customs Department checks the QR code hardcopy, using mobile application launched by the Department of Commerce. Inspection processes have been undertaken from 4:00 am to 12:00 am."

Driver, Mandalay-Muse, Thein Than Aung said "In the past, we have to take time in filling the required form at the enterance and exit of checkpoint and now, it takes around 1 minute to finish the whole inspection process. I think this system transformation is beneficial for us and QR code system is easier and faster than the previous documented system."

The Union Minister cordially greeted the export entrepreneurs and drivers, queried the difficulties they face and coordinated requirements for them with the responsible officials, it’s learnt.
