The number of COVID-19 cases in the United States surpassed 2.18 million as of late Wednesday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University. Meanwhile, the national death toll of COVID-19 rose to 118,381, according to the CSSE. It is the worst-hit country in the world in terms of total infections and fatalities. spikes in new cases and hospitalizations have emerged because many states plan to reopen educational facilities and further ease restrictions on business operations and gatherings.
