U.S. COVID-19 cases surpass 1.78 mln: Johns Hopkins University

The number of COVID-19 cases in the United States topped 1.78 million as of late Sunday Eastern Daylight Time, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

Meanwhile, the national death toll of COVID-19 rose to 104,356, according to the CSSE. Hardest-hit New York State reported a total of 29,784 deaths, the CSSE data showed. The United States continues to be the country with the most confirmed cases and deaths caused by COVID-19 in the world. U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday he's cutting U.S. ties with the World Health Organization.
