Urban Development: SAC Chairman tours in Hlaingthaya Township

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by concerned officials inspected urban development efforts in Hlaingthaya Township of Yangon Region on Saturday.

During the inspection, the Prime Minister and party oversaw the sidewalk construction and drainage upgrades at Yaw A Twin Win U Phoe Hlaing Road near Bayintnaung Bridge on the Yangon-Pathein Highway. The Prime Minister instructed to ensure roadside cleanliness and proper water flow.

They then inspected the completed pedestrian bridge on the southern side of Kanaung MinTharGyi Road, along with a new pedestrian walkway and improved water flow. Upon arrival at Thaung Kyar Creek Bridge, they oversaw ongoing water flow improvement works and provided necessary instructions.

The Prime Minister and party later proceeded to the West Yangon Technological University, and inspected the condition of the main entrance road, walkway and shade tree cultivation along the entrance. The Prime Minister provided necessary instructions following reports from responsible officials.

He then met with the Rector and faculty members and inquired about student attendance and learning conditions. He stressed the importance of ensuring convenience for students and improving dormitory facilities while instructing to conduct research on enhancing water flow within the township.

At Bayintnaung Park, the Prime Minister and party inspected the miniature model of Hlaingthaya Town Plan and provided instructions for further urban development plans. At the briefing hall, the Prime Minister heard reports on completed and ongoing urban development in Hlaingthaya Township, including concrete culvert construction, regular cleaning drains to prevent blockages, water flow improvements along Yangon-Pathein and Nyaungdon Highways, sluice gate installations, drainage ditches near Shwepyitha Bridge and the university campus, pedestrian walkways and bridges and completion of nylon asphalt paving on the university circuit road.

The Prime Minister highlighted that development and reform efforts in Hlaingthaya Township have been underway since 2023. He emphasized the need for a systematic Town Plan and Developing Plan, stressing support for factory workers' living security and access to affordable food.

Township and district administrators were also instructed to closely monitor and implement these measures. The Prime Minister and party toured along Nyaungdon Highway by motorcade and visited the construction site of the Tabin Shwe Hti pedestrian bridge. The relevant officials reported the project’s status and the Prime Minister gave necessary instructions.

The Prime Minister and party toured the townships in Yangon Region by motorcade and instructed road boundary maintenance, encroachment prevention, water flow improvement, traffic rule enforcement and road cleanliness.
