Upper Yeywa Hydro power Project 53.22 percent of the project has completed

Under the supervision of the Ministry of Electric Power, the Upper Yeywa hydro power Plant is under construction in Kyauk Mae Township, Shan State (North). The project is being implemented by constructing the dam on the Dokhtawaddy river which is located about 20 miles from Kyaukme township.

The hydropower plant is a kind of four 70-MW vertical transit turbines with a total capacity of 280 MW. Upon completion of this project, the hydropower plant will distribute annually about 1,409 million KWH of electricity across the country through the National Grids.

The construction of the main dam will start on December 2023 and implementations are underway to distribute electric power starting March 2025. Likewise, the main dam will be a type of RCC Concrete one and it is the third one in Myanmar. At present, 53.22 percent of the project has been completed, it’s reported.
