Unloading rice and food supplies: Rakhine State CM inspected unloading process

Under the guidance of the National Disaster Management Committee, and under the coordination and supervision of the Rakhine State Government and the Yangon Region Government, shipments of rice and essential food supplies are being transported to Rakhine State by cargo vessels.

In the morning on June 9, at the multipurpose port in Sittwe, Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin, along with members of the State Government and departmental officials, visited to inspect the arrival and unloading of rice and basic food and consumer goods that were shipped from Yangon. The goods were transported on the vessels MV Ye Tun Aung (1), MV Aung Yadana Thiri (1), MV Aung Yadana Htay, and MV Min Khant Phyo.

The Chief Minister inspected the unloading process and instructed that the cargo be handled systematically, quickly distributed and sold in the markets, protected from spoilage or loss, not sent to unnecessary destinations, and managed safely. Coordination with responsible officials was carried out to ensure smooth implementation.

The cargo carried by each vessel upon arrival in Sittwe was reported that MV Yadanar Aung (1) with 899.7 tons of rice and essential food items, MV Aung Yadana Thiri (1) with 1,150 tons, MV Aung Yadana Htwe with 1,105 tons and MV Min Khant Phyo with 337 tons.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister also observed that some of the IDPs sheltered in the temporary were participating in the unloading work. He instructed relevant officials to coordinate efforts to create more job opportunities for those affected individuals going forward.
