Following a provisional ceasefire between the United States and Iran, thousands of displaced Lebanese civilians are cautiously returning to southern Lebanon. However, the UN urged on Tuesday caution and demanded protections, warning of widespread destruction, unexploded ordnance, and security risks.

Joint UN and Lebanese assessments indicate that over 11,000 residential buildings have been completely destroyed and thousands more partially damaged. Many remain displaced due to ongoing structural instability and fear of violence.
